This is an extremely nice fossil bivalve. It is a large Chesapecten nefrens from the Miocene of Maryland. This complete scallop has both valves intact and tightly articulated. Both of the ''ears'' of the fossil scallop are present, and the coarse radial ornamentation of the shell is easily seen. Both sides of the fossil are very clean and display beautifully. This is an excellent display example of this classic fossil scallop from Maryland.
