This is a very nice multiple slab of blastoids. These are Pentremites rusticus from the Pennsylvanian of Oklahoma. There are SEVEN blastoids present on this plate. This species of blastoid is unusual in that the plates of the thecae are highly ornamented - this is the only species of Pentremites that we have seen that have these ornamented plates. The blastoids are very inflated and exhibit great detail. The wide ambulacra are easily seen and the spiracles at the top of the blastoids are quite evident - even the ''food grooves'' of the ambulacra are clearly defined. The ornamentation of the plates is beautifully displayed (hard to see in photo). These primitive echinoderms have good color and contrast and are nicely presented on the large plate of limestone. And there is even a brachiopod composited on the plate. This is an excellent multiple specimen of these highly ornamented blastoids from the Pennsylvanian.
