Here is an excellent specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. This large trilobite (almost three inches long!) is perfectly prone and extremely well articulated. The distinct bug is somewhat inflated and exhibits great detail. Both genal spines and the long caudal spine are beautifully preserved and very well displayed. The individual lenses of the protruding, compound eyes are quite evident and almost fully complete. The striking trilobite has very nice natural color and contrast and is well showcased on the nice, natural-edged plate of shale. This is a super nice example of this classic trilobite from New York.
