This is a distinct Olenellus sp.(?) from the Lower Cambrian of the Genosee Quarry, Donnerville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This classic locality was collected YEARS ago, and sat dormant until a few years ago, then the owner died and collecting there is now illegal - so almost all specimens from this site were found decades ago. This particular specimen was found in the early 1980's, and has been in a collection ever since. This beautiful specimen is essentially complete and very well preserved. The fossil showcases very nice detail, with the textbook opistothorax fully intact, which is extremely unusual (see close-up photo). The entire trilobite displays beautifully on the small, natural plate of Kinzers shale. This is a very rare example of a classic Olenellus trilobite with complete opistothorax from the historic Genosee Quarry of Lancaster County, PA.
