Here is a very rare trilobite from South America. This is a complete Schizostylus brevicaudatus from the Devonian of Bolivia. Decades ago, Bolivian trilobites were somewhat obtainable. However, most of the local diggers got involved in the cocaine business, which was much more profitable! Now, it is more difficult to get specimens like this. This horned trilobite was found in a concretion, so the detail is exquisite. This distinct trilobite is preserved in an almost prone position and is very 3-dimensional. The detail of the bug is very well preserved, and the natural color is striking. This is not a poor quality example (eBay) - it is an excellent example of this very cool trilobite from the Southern Hemisphere.
