This is a textbook Mississippian trilobite. It is a very fine Ameropiltonia lauradanae from the Choteau Formation of Missouri. As everyone knows, complete Carboniferous trilobites are quite rare. This bug is very inflated and extremely well preserved. The fossil is almost perfectly prone, has great color and contrast, and is well showcased on the squared matrix plate that also contains other fossils. This is a very collectible example of a rare Mississippian trilobite.
