Here is an extremely rare fossil insect. This is a HUGE Fossil Wasp (Hymenoptera) from the Eocene of Utah. This insect is quite large and exhibits fine detail. The head, body, legs and antennae of the wasp are beautifully preserved. The distinct wasp has great color (color pattern preserved!) and contrast and is well showcased on the large, natural plate of shale that also contains a rare Sycamore fruit!. This is a fabulous specimen of an extinct fossil wasp from the Green River Formation.
