This is a cool plate of plant fossils. It is a fine plate with fern fronds from Pennsylvania. The fossils are replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossils their stunning white color. There are also two examples of Sphenophyllum on the plate along with the ferns. The plants have great detail preserved and contrast beautifully with the black matrix. The fossils are nicely spaced on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a cool association of fossil plants from the Coal Age of Pennsylvania.
