This is a wonderful plant fossil. It is a large fossil Fern Frond from Johnson County, Missouri. This fern is preserved in a concretionary matrix, giving it excellent color and detail. The striking chocolate brown coloration is fully natural, and the minute detail is exquisite. The long fern frond is beautifully showcased in the center of the nodule, and both halves of the split pair concretion are present. This is a very aesthetic plant fossil from this Mazon Creek-like locality.
