This is a very collectible slab of trace fossils. These are fossil bird (Sandpiper?) tracks from the Eocene of Utah. There are literally dozens of complete tracks on this plate. These tracks were probably made by a Sandpiper-type bird. It is easy to envision birds walking along the shoreline of an ancient lake or pond - later this shoreline mud turned to stone. The tracks are clearly defined and well positioned on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a museum quality specimen of fossil bird tracks from the Green River Formation.
