This is a beautiful plant fossil. It is a striking plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. These ferns are replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossil its stunning white color. The detailed fern fronds display wonderfully and contrast beautifully with the black matrix plate. And there is also a LONG fern frond on the back side of the plate. This is a very collectible slab of fossil fern fronds from the Coal Age.
