This is a fine specimen of a juvenile Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fish exhibits great detail - the bone structure of the fish is beautifully displayed, and the head and tail are easily seen. The NATURAL, orange-brown color of the fish contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The tiny fossil herring is well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. And, best of all, this is a split pair - both halves of the fossil are offered here. This is a very fine part/counterpart juvenile fossil fish from Wyoming.
