This is a very fine specimen of Jianghanicthys hubeiensis from the Eocene of China. This wonderful fish is complete and exhibits great detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins and tail are easily seen - even the scale pattern is quite evident! The dark brown color of the fish contrasts well with the light-colored matrix. The large fish is beautifully showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very nice, large example of a Jianghanicthys fish from the Eocene of China.
