Here is a complete predatory fossil fish. It is a striking Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This specimen exhibits marvelous detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. This predatory fish had large teeth for feeding, and many sharply-pointed teeth can be seen seen on this specimen. The fish has excellent, natural, orangish-brown color and contrasts well with the cream-colored matrix. The fish is well centered on the rectangular plate of shale that has been professionally framed for optimal display.. This is a wonderful example of this carniverous fish from the Fossil Lake Deposits of Wyoming.
