This is a distinct specimen of Lycoptera davidi from the Jurassic of China. This fossil fish has very good detail - the bone structure of the fish is clearly defined. The natural, dark-brown color of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the tannish-grey matrix. The large fish has great form and is well presented on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a very fine example of a fossil fish from the time of the dinosaurs.
