This is an extremely rare fossil flower from the Eocene of Wyoming. It is a fabulous Trumpet Flower from the fish layers of the Green River Formation. This specimen was acquired from a major fossil collection. Flowers are very rare in the fossil record because of their delicate nature. This is the best example of a fossil Trumpet Flower that we have ever seen. The specimen has great natural color and striking contrast. The flower is well centered on the squared plate of shale. And, again, this piece is from the fossil fish layers of the Green River Formation, not the leaf layers! This is simply a textbook fossil Trumpet Flower from Wyoming.
