This is a wonderful fossil fish from the Green River Formation. It is a HUGE (over 10 inches long!) Priscacara serrata from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type is very sought-after because of its recognizable look - similar to a modern-day Bluegill or Crappie. This specimen exhibits great bone structure, and the fins are beautifully displayed. The sharp spikes of the large dorsal fin are easily seen. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well positioned on the large, semi-squared plate of shale. This is an extremely large example of this classic fish from the Fossil Lake deposits.
