Here is a very nice fossil seed fern from the famous Mazon Creek area of Illinois. This plant is well preserved in a siderite concretion and both halves of the concretion (part and counterpart) are present. This specimen exhibits wonderful detail - the individual leaflets are quite distinct. Under magnification, one can easily see the venation of the leaflets. The fossil plant has good color and contrast. No paint or coloring has been added to this fine specimen. This is a very distinct seed fern from the Pennsylvanian of Illinois.
