Here is a rare fossil flower. It is a large Fossil Astronium Flower from the Green River Formation. Due to their delicate nature, flowers are very rare in the fossil record. This is a great specimen of an Eocene flower. This flower is wonderfully preserved and quite distinct. The shape of the flower is clearly defined, and the drooping petals are easily seen. The fossil has great color and contrast and is nicely showcased on the semi-squared plate of shale. This is a very collectible specimen of a rare fossil flower from the Green River Formation.
