This is a distinct specimen of a juvenile Diplomystus dentatus from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fish is colorful and exhibits great detail. The bone structure of the fish is beautifully displayed, the fins and tail are easily seen, and the upturned mouth adds a certain charm. The orange color of the fish contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The small fossil herring is well showcased on the large plate of shale that also contains a nice fossil coprolite (poop). This is a very detailed juvenile fish and turd from Wyoming.
