This is a fossil insect. It is a complete Lacewing from the famous Santana Formation of Brazil. This amazing insect lived during the Cretaceous Period, at the same time as the Dinosaurs! This insect has beautiful natural coloration and is extremely detailed - you can even see the large eyes. The most striking feature of this fossil is the incredible ''lacewing'' pattern that is still preserved in the wings! It is very rare in the fossil record to find a complete fossil Lacewing with the wing pattern preserved. This is an excellent example of this detailed Cretaceous insect.
