This is a very distinct fossil leaf. It is a large Celtis aspera (Hackberry) leaf from a new find in the Paleocene of Montana. This specimen has great lanceolate shape - the serrations and venation are also clearly seen. The dark color makes for a striking display. The beautiful leaf is well showcased on the natural plate of shale. This is a very fine fossil leaf from an unusual location in Montana.
