This is an extremely uncommon fossil leaf. It is a beautiful Planera microphylla Leaf from a new find in the Paleocene of Montana. This specimen has a great natural shape - the serrations are very clearly seen. The dark color makes for a striking display. The distinct leaf is well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale that also contains a very large Hickory leaf. This is the only example of this rare leaf that we have ever seen.
