Here is a wonderful tooth from an extinct Plesiosaur. This tooth is from the Cretaceous deposits of Morocco. Plesiosaurs were large, vicious marine reptiles. They had extremely long necks and fairly lengthy tails. They swam by means of legs and feet that had developed into oarlike paddles. This tooth is wonderfully 3-dimensional and beautifully preserved. The corrugated, multi-colored enamel is excellent, and the tip exhibits almost no natural wear from use. This dagger-shaped tooth has superb natural color and contrasts well with the sand-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large block of sandstone - NATURAL, NOT COMPOSITED on the plate. This is a very cool example of a Plesiosaur tooth from the Cretaceous seas.
