This is a very unusual triple specimen of Holocystites scutellatus. These primitive cystoids are from the Silurian of Indiana. All three echinoderms are extremely inflated and well preserved. These distinct specimens exhibit very good plate structure - the highly pustulose plates are all intact. All three fossils have their short stems intact - this is highly unusual, as this processes are usually broken off. The cream-colored cystoids contrast nicely with the blue-grey matrix. The fossils are very well showcased on the semi-oval plate of limestone. This is a fine display specimen of three Holocystites scutellatus cystoids from the Osgood Formation.
