This is an excellent fossil fish. It is a fine Mioplosus labracoides from Kemmerer, Wyoming. This fossil was found in the ''18 Inch Layer'', a layer where the fossils have wonderful detail and great dark color. The fossils need to be extracted under a microscope with an air scribe or grinder to reveal all the detail. This fish specimen has fine detail - the backbone, fins, tail, and other bones are very easily seen. And the fish is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a beautiful predatory Mioplosus labracoides from the ''18 Inch Layer'' of the Green River Formation.
