This is an excellent pair of fossil fish. These are large Knightia alta from Lincoln County, Wyoming. This fossil was found in the ''18 Inch Layer'', a layer where the fossils have great detail - they need to be extracted under a microscope to reveal all the detail. The backbone and other bones are easily seen on these specimens. The fossils in this layer also have great dark color, which contrasts beautifully with the lighter shale matrix. This fish are very well showcased on the squared plate of shale that also contains a large poop (Coprolite). This is a professionally-prepared fossil fish double from the ''18 Inch Layer'' of the Green River Formation.
