Here is an extremely displayable fossil insect. This is Heptagenia sp., a Mayfly, from the Jurassic of China. This extremely large insect (well over five inches wide!) displays all four wings in fine fashion - some of the venation of the wings can even be seen. The fossil has nice color and contrast and is beautifully displayed on the rounded plate of matrix. This is a very collectible specimen of a large winged insect from the time of the dinosaurs.
