This is an excellent fossil turtle. It is a large Stylemys nebraskensis from South Dakota. This specimen is free of matrix and can be viewed from all angles. The turtle is complete and very well-articulated. It has great natural color and very nice detail. The underside shell (plastron) is intact and fully articulated. The turtle is inflated and 3-D, not crushed flat. And there is even a leg bone sticking out of one of the leg holes. This is a top quality example of a fossilized turtle from South Dakota.
