This is a beautifully-preserved fossil fish. It is a Phareodus testis from Wyoming. This specimen has incredible detail. The bones and fins are well preserved, and even the scale pattern is intact and somewhat visible, which is unusual. This predatory fish had large teeth for feeding, and these teeth are EASILY seen on this specimen. The fish is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular matrix plate. This is an awesome display fossil of this extinct carniverous fish.
