Here is a wonderful fossil fish. It is a displayable Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This fabulous specimen exhibits marvelous detail. The bone structure is clearly defined and the fins and tail are beautifully showcased. Even the scale pattern is intact, which is highly unusual. This predatory fish has large teeth for feeding, and many sharply-pointed teeth are EASILY seen on this specimen. The fossil has spectacular, natural, orange color that contrasts very well with the cream-colored matrix. The fish is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a fine example of this carniverous fish from the Fossil Lake Deposits.
