This is a beautiful specimen of Halysiocrinus sp. from the siltstone of Crawfordsville, Indiana. This excellent specimen of a ''nodding'' crinoid is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The arms are complete to the very tips. A long stem is attached to the crinoid crown. The specimen has excellent color and contrast. The sea lily is almost perfectly centered on the squared plate of matrix. It is presumed that the stem was anchored to the sea bottom and ran parallel to the surface of the sea floor. The crinoid crown then ''nodded'' on the end of the stem just slightly above the sea floor. This is a great specimen of an unusual crinoid.
