Here is a beautifully-preserved fossil fish. It is a striking Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This specimen exhibits marvelous detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed - even the scale pattern is intact and easily seen, which is highly unusual. This predatory fish had large teeth for feeding, and many sharply-pointed teeth can be seen seen on this specimen. The fish has excellent, natural, orangish-brown color and contrasts well with the cream-colored matrix. The fish is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale that has been professionally framed for optimal display.. This is an incredible example of this carniverous fish from the Fossil Lake Deposits of Wyoming.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
