Here is a beautiful fossil crinoid. This is a very complete Agaricocrinus splendens from the Mississippian of Indiana. This ancient sea lily is very 3-dimensional and exhibits wonderful detail. This large crinoid has extremely long, stout arms that are biserial in nature. This specimen displays the arms in beautiful fashion - they are uncommonly complete to the very tips and exhibit beautiful pinnulation! The fossil has outstanding color - the brown crinoid contrasts wonderfully with the yellow-tan matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large, semi-rectangular plate of siltstone. And the LONG stem of the crinoid displays beautifully, with many root-like cirri intact! This is a textbook example of Agaricocrinus from Crawfordsville, Indiana.
