This is a very nice crinoid fossil. It is a large Platycrinites saffordi crown from the Mississippian of Indiana. This type of camerate crinoid has a cup composed of large, ornamented plates and multi-branching, biserial arms - this 3-dimensional specimen exhibits all of these features in fine fashion. The long, curving, pinnulated arms are beautifully displayed. The distinct crinoid is well showcased on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is an affordable example of a nice Crawfordsville crinoid.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
