This is a beautiful insect trapped in Baltic Amber. It is a Bark Louse (Psocoptera) from Russia. This specimen has great detail preserved, displaying the legs, eyes, and antennae very well. The unusual wing pattern is beautifully preserved, looking like a stained glass window. The louse is easily seen in the polished amber piece. This is a very interesting and beautiful insect entombed in ancient fossilized ooze.
