This is a very large insect in amber. It is a Male Winged Ant (Hymenoptera) from the Dominican Republic. This specimen is quite large, and is easily seen in the amber piece. The detail of the wings, legs, head, and antennae are all wonderfully preserved. The ant displays beautifully within the large, cognac-colored amber piece. This is an excellent Winged Ant trapped in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
