This is a very unusual fossil turtle. It is a baby Stylemys nebraskensis from Wyoming. This fine specimen was found years ago and was acquired from a major fossil collection. The turtle is partially embedded in matrix, partially free of matrix. The turtle is complete and very well-articulated. It has great natural color and very nice detail. The underside shell (plastron) is intact and wonderfully articulated. The turtle is very inflated and 3-D, not crushed flat. But the best feature of this fossil is the skull that is sticking out of the front of the shell. There are even leg bones sticking out of THREE of the leg holes! And the fact that this is a baby makes it even more collectible. This is a top quality example of a fossilized baby turtle from the Badlands of Wyoming.
