This is a very interesting specimen of a fossil bivalve. It is a large Aequipecten sp. valve from the Pliocene of Florida. The ''ears'' of the scallop are wonderfully intact, and the shell is quite complete. This ancient Pecten exhibits wonderful detail - the coarse, radial corrugations are clearly defined, and the fine growth lines are easily seen. This is a very displayable Pecten specimen from the Pliocene.
