This is a very nice example of a fossil termite in amber. It is a large Winged Termite (Isoptera) entombed in Dominican Amber. This specimen has great detail, especially on the head, body, and legs. But the real prize is the large wings, which are also preserved. The insect is easily seen almost filling the cognac-colored amber piece. This is a very fine Winged Termite trapped in fossil ''ooze'' (small close-up photo is included for free).
