This is an excellent example of a fossil termite in amber. It is a large Winged Termite (Isoptera) entombed in Baltic Amber. This specimen has great detail, especially on the long wings, which are the real prize on this specimen - they are simply spectacular. The detail of the venation is very easily seen, which is quite unusual. The termite can be seen with the naked eye trapped within the large, honey-colored amber piece, along with a very larger Spider. This is an extremely detailed example of a Termite and Spider preserved in ancient tree resin.
