Here is an excellent grouping of insects and arachnids preserved in Baltic Amber from the Eocene of Russia. This nugget of fossilized tree resin has been highly polished on all sides for optimal display. There is a blood-sucking Vampire Midge (pictured), a Fungus Gnat, and two Mites (one is pictured) trapped in the amber nugget. The animals are beautifully preserved and exhibit wonderful detail - each organism is clearly defined. The insects are easily seen trapped within the honey-colored amber piece. This is a very fine example of many insects preserved in fossilized tree resin.
