This is a distinct plant fossil. It is a fossil Fern Frond from the famous Mazon Creek fauna of Illinois. This specimen was found in a new locality in Grundy County, Illinois. This Pennsylvanian-Age plant is wonderfully preserved in a siderite concretion. Both halves of the large concretion (part and counterpart) are present. This specimen exhibits very fine detail - the individual leaflets are clearly defined. The fossil has very good color and contrast. This is an extremely attractive example of a fossil seed fern from a new locality.
