Here is a large specimen of Leptolepis dubia from the famous Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. This lithographic limestone is well known for the fantastic preservation of the rare fossils that are occasionally encountered. This fish is complete and has very good detail. The bone structure is easily seen, and the eye socket of the fish is clearly defined. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well presented on the large plate of limestone that also contains three Saccocoma floating crinoids! This is a very fine example of a fossil fish from this classic locality.
