This is a great example of insects in amber. These are Flying Ants (Hymenoptera) trapped in Dominican Amber. There are two Winged Male Ants entombed in the amber piece. The ants have very nice detail preserved, and the wings display extremely well. The ants are easily seen in the cognac-colored amber nugget. This is an extremely unusual example of a pair of Flying Ants in amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
