This is a very detailed fly in amber. It is a large Fungus Gnat (Mycetophilidae) from the Dominican Republic. The gnat is wonderfully intact, and is preserved in a very aesthetic pose. The gnat is easily seen in the clear, cognac-colored amber piece. This is a beautiful fossilized Fungus Gnat entombed in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
