This is a very unusual fossil beetle. It is a Horseshoe Crab Beetle (Limuloididae) trapped in Dominican Amber. One look at this beetle and one can see how it got its name! This type of beetle is very uncommon in the fossil record. This specimen is complete and has very good detail. It is well preserved and easily seen in the amber piece. This is a great example of this rare fossil beetle that looks like a Horseshoe Crab.
