This is a very nice specimen of Aequipecten sp. from the Pliocene of Florida. This large mollusk has both valves present and tightly articulated. Both sides of the specimen are free of matrix and very clean in appearance. The only matrix that is present is filling in the space between the valves. The large bivalve displays excellent detail. The coarse radial ornamentation is clearly defined, and the fine growth lines are quite visible. Both of the large ears are intact and beautifully displayed. This is a very appealing specimen of a fossil bivalve from Florida.
