Here is a great Russian ammonite. This is Paracadoceras sp. from the Jurassic. This type of "wide-bodied" ammonite has a distinct ribbing pattern with a very rounded keel. This ammonite is extremely robust and exhibits fine detail. The ribbing pattern is easily seen, and even the tiny inner whorls of the ammonite are wonderfully displayed. The iridescent nacre of the cephalopod is intact and has very pretty color. The ammonite is beautifully displayed in the center of the concretionary matrix. This is a nice specimen of this uncommon ammonite from Russia.
