This is a beautiful fossil Seed Fern from the famous Mazon Creek area of Illinois. The plant is wonderfully preserved in a siderite concretion, and both halves of the concretion (part and counterpart) are present. This specimen exhibits very fine detail - the individual leaflets are beautifully displayed. The incredible color and contrast of the fossil is totally natural. No paint or coloring has been added to the specimen. This is a very striking Seed Fern from the Coal Age.
